    NextStep Recycling Needs Your Help

    • NextStep Recylcing is one of the great forward thinking businesses that makes Eugene special but they are facing serious challenges right now. Here is a message from John Marshall of the NextStep Recycling Stewardship Council to you, the progressive Eugene community:

      Each of us can demonstrate our commitment to NextStep Recycling with a great Valentine gift ––– Help us keep the doors open while we transition to a focused, leaner model of NextStep!

      Would you consider showing your love and support for what 'NextStep: Reuse is the new Recycling' does?

      YOU can make a difference by asking every one you know to donate $$ – as little as $5, or a lot, like $5K+! If many will give a little, together we can do a LOT!

      Our local gem of a non-profit organization (founded by Lorraine Kerwood) gifts refurbished computers to change lives of foster kids, disabled adults, seniors and other marginalized folks who couldn't afford to purchase electronics; recycles ten million pounds of e-waste that could have instead polluted our environment; sends material from repairable items to ecologically vetted processors; and has educated 8500 individuals with disabilities.

      Even the staff at NextStep is stepping up to keep this good work going... giving extra unpaid time; donating cash from their paychecks to cover expenses; people earning $10.00 an hour have not been turning in their mileage reimbursement... all to help save costs.

      If you too love what NextStep does, please consider donating and/or asking others to help during this time of need.

      Donations can be made:
      (1) By phone with a credit card (call Melissa at NSR, 541-686-2366 ext. 121);
      (2) Sent by snail mail to NextStep Recycling (Attn: Melissa), 2101 West 10th Ave., Eugene, OR 97402; or
      (3) Delivered in person in a sealed envelope to Kassie who is the receptionist at the "new" front desk.

      Make your checks out to "NextStep Recycling" but please clearly mark them "EMERGENCY FUND."

      Thank you for providing support in this difficult situation.
