A showcase of local songwriters will be presented on Friday, March16th at Cozmic from 5-7pm. No cover. This is part of a series of songwriter showcases organized and hosted by Rob Tobias. The two guest songwriters for this showcase are Robert Meade and Timothy Shaw. Each of the three performers will play a short set followed by a songwriter in the round format.
Rob Tobias writes and plays roots music inspired by the great songwriters of the 60s and 70s while also exploring sing- along and spiritual styles. Rob sings, plays piano, guitar, uke, harmonica, and percussion. "If the Northwest has a little of all the good stuff, Tobias’ own songwriting mirrors that diversity. His blended style samples from jazz, blues, reggae, folk and rock." www.robtobias.com
Robert Meade is a singer/songwriter type, Rhythm 'n' Blues, acoustic performer with a broad range of material and a unique, ever-changing sound and a strong stage presence. Timothy Michael Shaw came early to music but late to songwriting. Beginning one cathartic evening in 2006, he has developed steadily and is currently in his most prolific period as a songwriter. Dances of Universal Peace .... a Season for Nonviolence event
held at Friends Meeting House, 2274 Onyx Street, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
On March 2, March 16, and March 30.
Our purpose is to promote peace through appreciation of various religious and spiritual traditions, experienced through music and simple movement in a group setting.
The Dances of Universal Peace are meditative and uplifting group dances of easy-to-learn songs and movements that are taught all over the world. They use sacred phrases, music, and movements from many traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Zoroastrianism, the Goddess, Celtic and Native American Traditions. The songs and movements are taught by a leader and the dances are accompanied by musicians.

Cascade Center has invited Community of Welcoming Congregations (CWC) to bring the reader’s theater piece to our area as the Center's participation in the Season for Nonviolence.
The Drama Queens, CWC's acting troupe, has performed the reader’s theatre piece, You Have Always Been Welcome Here in cities across Washington and Oregon . Written by Jeannie LaFrance, the play conveys the stories of four transgender people as they discover who they are and what their relationship to faith and God might be. The story telling is powerful, as this play shares the journey of four brave people whose courage inspires and educates.

Youth & Violence is a community conversation on confronting violence toward young people with prayer and action. Jeff Todahl, Director of the UO Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Neglect, and John Aarons from the Lane County Dept. of Youth Services are the featured speakers.

After becoming bar-mitzvah Shmuel Cohen walked away from Judaism, and after a career as a software engineer, he moved to San Francisco to become a musician and a poet. In the mid-1990s he moved to Eugene and studied with Rabbi Hanan Sills. For the last 10 years, he has been living in Jerusalem studying in yeshiva with various teachers. He recently returned to Eugene with the hope of sharing some of the joys and gems found in our ancient tradition.

This is a free, open circle
There will be a brief teaching before we begin for first timers. During the practice of transfiguration, you allow your body and thoughts to dissolve until you are just spiritual light.
From this place of radiance, healing with spiritual light for self and others is amplified as the group transfigures as one.
Please bring a small 4 oz jar of water or a small sealed bag of soil to put on the altar. The water and soil will be transfigured. I will explain more as we prepare for the ceremony.

This dynamic and engaging two day course is all about learning to communicate and connect on a higher and deeper level, allowing both you and your clients to discover your true nature and potential, all while aligning your professional skills and focus with your personal beliefs and values and developing spiritual integrity in your personal and professional lives. Coaching is a very effective way to help people find that balance and fulfillment they seek in their lives.
2 days/16 hours of classroom training. (If seeking the Certified Leadership Practitioner designation, the workshop is followed by mentored practice period of 15 hours with at least 3 people for 5 hours each. All participants receive a certification of completion for the 16 hour course.)
