Saturday January 28, 2012
9:00 am – 12:00 pm – $35
For more info contact Holistic Healing Institute at 541 515-0462.
Attune yourself to the seasons with Ayurvedic yoga therapy.
Spring begins early here in the Willamette Valley, February is often a transition month to wetter weather, and warmer temperatures. The storage crops of fall and early winter are running low, and the necessity to eat heavy and building foods is becoming less. As spring approaches, the earth thaws, and water begins to flow, slowly at first and increasing with the warming temperatures of mid spring. Ayurvedically, Kapha dosha (Earth and Water) is elevated, and Pitta dosha (Fire and Water) is on the rise.
This workshop will discuss what is happening in our bodies and in nature during the winter-early spring transition, and how to use yoga asana, pranayama, (breathing exercises), and diet, from an Ayurvedic perspective, to minimize spring colds/flus, allergies, lethargy, and depression and create a more balanced and joyful body and mind.

You are invited to a conversation about Women and Violence January 30th, at 7pm. Following their remarks there will be an open discussion and informal sharing on how to address these issues through prayer. This is third in a series called PrayerWorks Eugene, a spiritual initiative bringing the power of prayer to bear on community concerns. Please see our website: PrayerWorksEugene.com for more info and calendar updates.
Also scheduled is an inspirational talk on May 1st by John Tyler. More information to follow.
PrayerWorks is a spiritual initiative bringing the power of prayer to bear on community concerns. It is sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Eugene. People of all faiths are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Recently, our community has seen heartbreaking reports of increased violence in our area alongside news of budget cuts and constraints in social service and law enforcement agencies. Can individual and collective prayer for community safety help? We've found that it can, and we are inviting community members to join us in an effort to support and sustain a safer community with prayer.
Our project begins October 30th with an inspirational "how to" talk on effective prayer. This will be followed by three meetings (in November, January and April) featuring local speakers working on the front lines against violence. Each follow-up meeting will include brainstorming discussion on how to pray effectively about the challenges discussed by the speaker. We hope those attending will commit to regular prayer for our community. PrayerWorks 2011-2012 will conclude with an inspirational talk in May.
Below are the tentative PrayerWorks topics and dates through May of 2012. All events are free and will take place at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1390 Pearl St., Eugene. Childcare will be provided.
Does your faith community want to join this initiative? Or do you have an idea you'd like to bring to the project? Please call (541) 344-6341 with your ideas or for more information.

Our Hatha Yoga classes are taught by Rachelle Cornelius. Her classes are inspired by her 15 year background in dance and study of therapeutic movement, as well as the wisdom of Nature. In her classes, Rachelle intends to honor the body as a temple of the Divine through gentle, meditative flowing Yoga that unites movement, body, breath, and mind to find the stillness and balance within. Rachelle’s classes also encourage a deeper exploration within and beyond the asanas (physical postures) through integration of the 8 Limbs of Yogic Philosophy. Rachelle teaches a practice that is complimentary to all levels and welcomes each student’s unique Yoga and life journey.

The Soul of the Heart Sacred Circle combines Hellinger's Systemic Constellation Work and sacred ceremony. It is an experiential process, working at a deep soul level. This heart-based approach brings more immediate and lasting impact than techniques that address the mind alone. Through constellation work, we uncover hidden generational dynamics which create obstacles that prevent us from living our lives well. Shifts occur on a systemic level so that we can experience the natural flow of love, strength and support within our lives.

Songwriter Showcase
with Brook Adams, Rob Tobias and Ben Bochner
Friday, February 10, at 7:30pm
at Tsunami Books,
2585 Willamette St., Eugene, OR 97440
$3-5 cover
A showcase of local songwriters will be presented at Tsunami Books on Friday, February 10th at Tsunami Books at 7:30pm. There will be a $3-5 cover at the door. This is the first of a monthly series of concerts that will focus on songwriters. The three songwriters, Brook Adams, Rob Tobias, and Ben Bochner have all been writing songs and living in the Eugene area for many years. The evening will begin with short sets from each of the performers an then move into a songwriter in the round format with songwriters trading songs and singing and playing along.
Brook Adams is the sound of smart pop music. His emotional songwriting and soulful whiskey voice evoke a timeless groove where the sounds of Bakersfield, New Orleans and the motor city coalesce. He's a skilled player on guitar and uke, with Django, Zappa and even Sousa in his trick bag. The CD, The Fountain Of Love At The Heart Of The World, is his first collection of all original music. Described in the Eugene Register Guard (May, 2011) as "Light and Bright", these songs explore the idea that people are basically good, and that in every heart there is a source of strength, courage and love. More at: www.brookadams.com
Rob Tobias writes and plays roots music inspired by the great songwriters of the 60s and 70s while also exploring sing-along and spiritual styles. Rob sings, plays piano, guitar, uke, harmonica, and percussion. His songs have been used in theatre projects, video productions, Jewish Renewal and Interfaith services, and as part of sustainability, and peace and non-violence conferences. The Register Guard review of his 6th CD, The Northwest Express (2011) said, "If the Northwest has a little of all the good stuff, Tobias’ own songwriting mirrors that diversity. His blended style samples from jazz, blues, reggae, folk and rock." More at: robtobias.com, thenorthwestexpress.com
Ben Bochner is a songwriter who has roots in Chicago and branches in Oregon. He has worked as a tree-climber, videographer and as a rent-a-cop for Chinese funerals. He once wrote a book with Ken Kesey. Inspired by some of the great Chicago songwriters like John Prine and Steve Goodman, he has explored the storyteller topical writing mode. More at Ben Bochner’s facebook and myspace pages.

“You are the bright light of yourself. That’s your identity.”
“The aura never lies.”
Yogi Bhajan in The Master’s Touch
Do you suffer from SAD – Seasonal Aura Disorder – in these dark days of winter? We can fix that and enjoy the process.
When we strengthen and clear our aura, we feel energetic, confident, and secure in our sense of self. We can open to people and events without being unduly influenced by them. It is safe and easy to be who we are, and others feel happy and comfortable around us. Building the aura elevates our own mental energy and uplifts others thru our simple presence.
Kundalini Yoga has many kriyas and meditations to enhance the aura. Come brighten your light in a supportive community of Spirit.
