Eckankar Community HU Sing
Sunday, August 28th at 10:00 – 10:30 am
ECKANKAR Center of Eugene,
2833C Willamette Street,
Eugene, OR (541) 343-2657
All are welcome to this free event.
You are invited to experience an ECKANKAR Community HU, a Love Song to God, and a period of sacred contemplation. Regardless of your beliefs or religion, singing HU (pronounced like the word hue) can bring you greater happiness, love, and understanding.
“HU is woven into the language of life. It is the Sound of all sounds. It is the wind in the leaves, falling rain, thunder of jets, singing of birds, the awful rumble of a tornado. Its sound is heard in laughter, weeping, the din of city traffic, ocean waves, and the quiet rippling of a mountain stream. And yet, the word HU is not God. It is a word people anywhere can use to address the Originator of Life.” - Sri Harold Klemp, Spiritual Leader of ECKANKAR, Religion of the Light and Sound of God.

With music, sound, and breath, we use techniques of Jewish meditation to invoke the internal genius of the body’s living waters—the mayyim chayyim—and their power of self-renewal. Join us as we dive into the sacred waters of life to restore health, build core strength, and listen in together to the wisdom of the body. We will work on the floor individually, but together, in comfortable clothing without zippers or buttons. No special experience, strength level, or movement training is necessary. But it is important to form the safe space of a working group or community. This is an ongoing practice group. Newcomers are invited to join at the start of each 4 week period.
Evlyn Gould holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. in French Literature and a CAS Distinguished Professorship at the University of Oregon as well as B.A. degrees in French and Dance. She has trained 30 years in classical dance and has worked for 5 years in Continuum Movement.

Come share the spirit & wisdom
of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur:
Rosh Hashanah - The Jewish New Year
Wednesday - September 28 evening
Thursday - September 29 morning
Yom Kippur - The Day of Atonement
Friday - October 7 evening
Saturday - October 8 all day
http://www.spiritpathnow.com/files/high-holy-day-mail-back-form.pdf
These holy-days are a time of prayer, music, reflection and learning,
a time when the veils between the worlds thins.
The services are liberal, renewal, feminist, and inclusive in orientation,
yet draw from traditional and mystical sources.
All are welcome to come to any or all of the services.
The High Holy Day Coordinators & Music Makers: These Holy Days are being coordinated by Rabbi Hanan, Jordan Michels, Rob Tobias, and Beth Miriam Rose. Beth and Rob are also are featured muscians this year. Rabbi Hanan will be present at most of the services leading and joining in song, chant, prayer and teachings.
In addition music is being offered by: Youme Danziger, Emily Fox, Chico Schwall, Debby Sugarman. Lisa Kaye will be offering sacred chant and Barry Nobel guiding us in meditation. Jordan and company will offer some theatrical stories. And please be sure to check out the names of our other brothers and sisters who will be joining us for the Yomim Noraim (these Days of Awe) on the Thank You handout at services.
All are welcome to participate in our services. We do not charge or sell tickets, but rather request a tax deductible $25 -$50 donation per adult for each of the four main services (2 morning and two evening), or an appropriate amount based on your financial situation. To avoid dealing with money during the High Holy Days CLICK HERE for a downloadable Mail-Back form. (http://www.spiritpathnow.com/files/high-holy-day-mail-back-form.pdf). Donations can also be made at the door. Make checks out to Ad-Olam. All money goes to support the work of Ad-Olam. Our combined collaborative efforts make these services possible.
We need volunteers for this and other events throughout the year. Let us know what your interest and talents are on the mail back form. This is especially important if you are unable to contribute financially. Other ways of giving can be found our our support page (http://www.adolam.org/supporting-ad-olam-with-donations-and-escrip.html).
Childcare: Regretfully official childcare is not provided. Parents are asked to share co-oping childcare during High Holy Day services. Snacks and juice will be provided and a room at Unity will be available for use by parents.

In the vision of the Vedas, the ancient body of wisdom, all that is here, including your body-mind-sense complex are pervaded by Ishvara, God. By understanding this and by knowing the truth of oneself as limitless, one is freed from a sense of alienation and separation from the whole. The notion that one is separate is caused by self-ignorance, leading to fear and sorrow. Sadhviji will be unfolding the knowledge that reveals the truth of oneself as the whole, self-existent, and limitless.
RSVP by Friday, the 19th of August. Payment in full must be received latest by the 26th of August.

Labor Day Retreat Friday, September 2nd - Sunday, September 4th
Trauma Healing Project, 2222 Coburg Road (in the Heeran Center Parking Lot)
Fri 2nd Sep 8:00-8:30 pm Labor Day Retreat Orientation
Sat 3rd Sep 10:00 am-3:30 pm Ishavasya Upanishad
Sun 4th Sep 10:00 am-3:30 pm Ishavasya Upanishad
At this retreat, Sadhviji will be expounding the opening mantras of the Ishopanishad, which make the startling revelation --Ishavasyam Idam Sarvam-- everything that exists is nothing but God. In this retreat, we will spend time learning that what we consider as 'God' cannot exist apart from the self. We will also look at practical ways to connect with this vision in everyday life.
Retreats are precious times of extended satsang --togetherness with a Brahmavid (knower of Brahman), which propels our spiritual growth in a conducive and relaxed atmosphere, where it is easier to grasp the truths of oneself as free and whole. Please do not miss this excellent opportunity. It is recommended that you attend all the sessions to get the best out of the retreat. Children are welcome at this retreat, provided they are old enough to entertain themselves on the premises, without disturbing the adults during class hours.
There will be a non-refundable charge of $ 50 per adult and $ 25 dollar per child between the ages of 6-14 that will just cover the cost of lunches, snacks, and beverages during the retreat. Following the ancient Vedic wisdom, according to which the teaching is priceless, and therefore freely given, we do not charge tuition for attending this retreat. At the end of the retreat, you will have the opportunity to voluntarily offer gurudakshina (sacred giving to the teacher) to express gratitude, and support the teachings.
Out of town guest attending the retreat will be responsible for arranging their own lodgings in Eugene, and meals that are not covered during the retreat. Please contact me if you need any help with motel bookings.
In order to properly plan for the retreat and the meals, we seek your cooperation in this by requesting your RSVP by Friday, the 19th of August. Payment in full must be received latest by the 26th of August. Please let us know if you would like to attend by emailing sanatanadharma2001@yahoo.com Once we hear from you, you will receive instructions about mailing your check.
If you are unable to attend, but but would like to make a donation on behalf of another participant, or if you would like to cook for the retreat participants, donate food or beverages, you are welcome to do so. Please let us know.
